Tommy Bahama’s Cafew

August 18, 2008

Visited the Town Square location on Sunday for dinner.

The restaurant is designed to feel like a southern plantation, and have to say, the decor is nice. There is outdoor seating available, but we opted to dine inside due to the warm weather.

The service was ok… not bad, but not the best either. The prices, on the other hand, might be the downfall for this place (at least in my opinion). There wasn’t a regular entree with a price point below . Now, they do have a summer special offering "lighter fare with lighter prices", so that might help their business for now.

We ended up making a meal of the coconut shrimp, bbq pork sandwich, and a bucket of fries. Both the shrimp (6 in a order) and sandwich came with some kind of slaw, which was actually pretty good. The sauce on the pork sandwich was fantastic, and the shrimp were served with an apricot chutney which was excellent as well. All 3 items were from the appetizer menu.

The total tab, with no alcohol and no dessert, was . I would have been happier with lone star for that. I’m not cheap by any streatch, but with the current economy, I think places need to look long and hard at their prices. I noticed the place was almost empty (5 tables were occupied, and 2 people were sitting at the bar).
