Green Vehicles

July 3, 2008

We debate on this forum constantly, lately about the need and use and cost of alternative fuel sources.

So just for sh!ts and grins, I thought I would do a price comparison between an Electric vehicle and a traditional gas powered vehicle.

Of little shock to me the only fully electric car ready for resale I could find was a Tesla… At a 0,000 price tag I thought that a little rediculous to debate.

So I went to find a comparison between a Hybrid and a full gas power vehicle.

Luckily for me, I was able to find this website:
http://www.eere.energy.gov/afdc/hev_…tor/single.php

I invite you all to compare (apples to apples) any of the vehicles listed on this website.

Be careful however because our government finds it important to put in highly deflated resale numbers for the gas vehicle (are we really shocked that the DOE would act this way).

So you can use this site to find out what the resale value of the vehicle is:
http://www.kbb.com/KBB/UsedCars/default.aspx

I used the Ford escape (I am a Ford man), I found that using current gas prices and the current resale value of a non-hybrid Ford Escape I would be losing .01 cents per mile to drive a hybrid.

So I have dug in my heels even further… The world is not ready to be without crude oil.
