Amusement Park Science

July 3, 2008

[Kids] There’s more to an amusement park than just mean carnies and stale cotton candy. Which is why we’re encouraging CityLife readers to take the whole family to experience Amusement Park Science at the Atomic Testing Museum before the show closes this month. Kids of all ages will enjoy exploring “the physics behind the fun” via a number of interesting exhibits, including a Wild Rides Video Kiosk, a Momentum Machine and a Bumper Blaster. Also on display are Holley Bakich’s delightful mixed-media sculptures of sideshow performers like Johnny Eck the (legless) Half-boy. Designed to give young people a hands-on and behind-the-scenes look at the science of amusement and theme parks, this unique show offers a great way to spend an unbearably hot Wednesday — or really any — afternoon in Vegas.
